Breastfeeding is always said to be the best and the natural way to feed a new born. Essential nutrients that are needed for the infant’s growth and development are present in a mother’s breast milk.

Doctors advise that during the end of pregnancy, a mother’s breasts produce a yellowish and sticky milk called Colostrum, which is the best food for the newborn and should be given during the first hour after birth. Preferably, exclusive breastfeeding is recommended up to 6 months.

  • Breastfeeding strengthens the bond between mother and child. The intimacy, comfort and trust that is built through skin to skin contact is undeniable.
  • While a mother breastfeeds, a hormone called Oxytocin or love hormones is released. It helps in a mother’s emotional state.
  • A mother’s breast milk contains endorphin’s that helps the baby suppress pain. It also helps the baby’s emotional needs.
  • Breastfeeding, because of it’s benefits, medical expenses are significantly lower.
  • Breast milk in undeniably the perfect food for the baby. It has all the nutrients, calories and fluids your baby needs. It is also convenient because it is readily available anytime, you don’t need to prepare for it, set it to the right temperature and you don’t need a refrigerator or a baby bottle for it. Breastfeeding, can also help the environment through the absence of using packaging materials that can end up in landfills.
  • Babies that are breastfed have shown high IQ levels and when in school, excels more in academics.
